Finance Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs

The minor in finance prepares students to understand the financial implications inherent in virtually all business decisions. This is obviously true for a large corporation, a major bank, or a casino and hotel company. However, it is equally true for the owner of a small business with 10 employees, for a city manager with 200 employees, or for the business director of a nonprofit organization. The finance curriculum allows students to explore financial management, investments, or financial services.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Be able to recognize and apply time value of money concepts.
  2. Be able to recognize and explain the relationship between risk and return.
  3. Be able to recognize and explain how cash flows create value.
  4. Be able to recognize and explain how information is reflected in market prices.

Total Credits: 21

Notes:

One elective is required from 300- or 400-level FIN courses, except FIN 345.
