HIST 404B - American Social History, 1865-Present Examination of U.S. social development since the Civil War, focusing upon problems arising from industrialism, immigration, and urbanism. Analysis of the responsive emergence of the “welfare state” in the Progressive, New Deal, and post World War II eras, supplemented by study of current issues of racism, sexism, and contemporary counterculture.
Credits: 3 Prerequisites: Six credits of history. Notes: This course is cross-listed with HIST 604B. Credit at the 600-level requires additional work.
