Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Minor

The minor in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is designed to provide students with a background in Python programming that can be applied to numerous fields now employing advanced data analysis techniques and algorithms. The curriculum is a beginning foundation in three computer science-related areas: data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Learning Outcomes
- Upon completing the minor, a graduate will be able to:
- Develop competence in Python programming
- Develop competence in collecting, segregating, and analyzing data
- Acquire background knowledge of artificial intelligence applications and systems
- Apply machine learning principles
Admission Requirements
The minor degree program is available to all undergraduate students at UNLV outside of the Department of Computer Science. The minimum GPA to apply for the minor is 2.0.

To obtain this minor, you must be a degree seeking undergraduate student pursuing an approved UNLV bachelor’s degree. Please see Graduation Policies for complete information.
Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Minor - Total Credits: 18
Grades lower than a C- will not count toward the minor.
Minor is available for all students outside of the Computer Science Majors (CSCBA, CSCBS).
Required Courses - Credits: 15
Elective Courses - Credits: 3
