Certificate in French Language


This Certificate in French Language focuses on learning French language skills and developing a strong foundation for the effective use of the language socially, academically, and professionally. This program should be of particular interest to students considering careers in education, government service, health care, hospitality, international business, journalism, media, or other professions where proficiency in a second language is important.

Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to: 

  • Develop French oral and written proficiency to the B2 level (CEFRL) in an immersive context, to maximize practice and familiarization; 
  • Develop literary, metalinguistic, and cultural understanding of the French language and its cultures to broaden learners’ perspectives; 
  • Hone sociocultural awareness and nuanced interpersonal skills to thrive and compete in today’s multilingual world;  
  • Foster a life-long spirit of learning and curiosity for the French-speaking world.
