Creative Practice (BA)

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Creative Pactice is designed with a contemporary vision towards redefining how we think about and practice the Creative Arts. Our future arts leaders must be innovative thinkers that are well versed in not only the arts, but also in other areas such as business, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, diversity/equity/inclusion, and global strategy. They must be proactive in the creation of interdisciplinary intersections that are at the forefront of societal change.

Creative individuals (Creatives) approach problem solving with innovative thinking and they display the ability to connect and engage with broad audiences. They have become sought after employees for nearly any company seeking a competitive edge.

The BA in Creative Practice is designed to appeal to two different types of students:

  • One, students who are looking to shape the future of the arts in entrepreneurial and forward-thinking ways as arts leaders.
  • Two, the program will provide opportunities to reframe and synthesize knowledge and experience in the arts for students who have achieved a number of credits towards a professional arts degree but have chosen not to pursue this as a career. They may wish to continue to work in the arts in a different capacity, possibly arts administration or arts  entrepreneurship, and/or attend graduate school. They may wish to use their background to find work in other fields seeking Creatives. This pathway will utilize previously earned credits up to the junior year with the addition of the CFA Core courses, the Interdisciplinary Core courses, and a culminating project and an internship.

Please see the UNLV College of Fine Arts web page at www.unlv.edu/finearts for information about department programs, faculty and facilities. Degree worksheets and 4/5 year plan for the major are available at www.unlv.edu/degree/ba-creative-practice.
