Neuroscience Minor

Neuroscience is a diverse field that collectivity investigates the organization, development, and function of the nervous system. Neuroscience has been one of the fastest growing fields of science, seeing an exponential increase in the number of published scientific research articles, specialty journals, doctoral degrees granted, and the amount of research dollars allotted. This research focuses on topics ranging from mechanisms responsible for basic neuronal function to investigations of behavior, cognition, and neurological/psychiatric disorders. The field incorporates an array of academic disciplines, including: psychology, biology, engineering, chemistry, physics, physiology, pharmacology, and mathematics. Neuroscience is highly interdisciplinary and features an array of mixed methods to try understand the complexities of the cognition, behavior, disease, and the nervous system in general. The courses are designed to give students a strong foundational knowledge and broad exposure to the neuroscience area. This program features courses in cellular & molecular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, and cognitive neuroscience.
