Theatre Arts Minor


The Theatre Arts minor offers students the opportunity to explore various aspects of Theatre including acting for both stage and screen, design elements and their implementation, dramatic literature and history.

Learning Outcomes

  • Communication:  Actors learn to communicate the ideas of a play to an audience.  Designers and technicians enhance that communication visually. Collaboration is an essential technique for theatre artists.
  • Inquiry and Critical Thinking: Understanding and interpreting dramatic literature and forms requires research, analysis and evaluation to develop most effective methods to present ideas to each other and an audience.
  • Global/Multicultural Knowledge and Awareness: Theatre is a global tradition rooted in pre-history.  It’s study challenges, informs, and embraces all aspects of humanity.

To obtain this minor, you must be a degree seeking undergraduate student pursuing an approved UNLV bachelor’s degree. Please see Graduation Policies  for complete information.

Theatre Arts Minor - Total Credits: 24


Required Course - Credits: 3


Additional THTR Courses - Credits: 21


Additionally 21 credits prefixed THTR are required.  Of these 21 credits, at least 12 credits must be at the Upper Division (300-400) level.

Theatre minors wishing to enroll in courses designated for theatre majors only should consult with a department advisor for placement and specific requirements.
