Psychology Minor

In the Psychology minor students are first introduced to the history of psychology along with the broad subfields of psychology including areas such as Psychological Disorders, Cognition, Perception, Development, Social, and Neuroscience. Students learn about opportunities that are available to psychology students, such as psychological research labs, psychology organizations, career possibilities that are related to psychology, and the variety of graduate school paths available to psychology students. Students also explore the scientific basis of psychology by learning about statistics and research methods in a two-course sequence. In these courses, students will develop critical thinking skills, library skills such as locating articles, analytical skills, oral communication, written communication, and an appreciation for diversity. Finally, students are able to tailor the remaining courses to their interests and professional goals by selecting upper level psychology electives.

Please see the UNLV College of Liberal Arts Department of Psychology web page at www.unlv.edu/psychology for information about department programs, faculty and facilities.  Degree worksheets are available at www.unlv.edu/degree/minor-psychology.
