English Minor

The purpose of the minor in English at UNLV is to provide students with both a familiarity with British and American literature and an enhanced ability to read, write and think critically. Students must successfully complete 24 semester credits of coursework in composition and literature.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the English minor, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the major authors, works, genres and movements in British and American literature.
  • Read and think critically, discerning alternative interpretations of texts.
  • Write clear narrative essays and papers, citing, analyzing and interpreting multiple sources of information.
