Learning Outcomes

1. Students will achieve intermediate to advanced comprehension skills in Italian, in all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

2. Students will be able to think critically in Italian.

3. Students will acquire cultural and intercultural knowledge in the target language.

4. Students will understand the basic history of the development of Italian from Latin.

Romance Language Degree Requirements - Total: 120 Credits

 

General Education Requirements - Subtotal: 36-40 Credits

First-Year Seminar - Credits: 2-3

English Composition - Credits: 6

 

Second-Year Seminar - Credits: 3

 

Constitutions - Credits: 4-6

Mathematics - Credits: 3

  • Social Science: 9 Credits
  • ​Life and Physical Sciences and Analytical Thinking: 9-10 Credits​

International, one 3 credit course required

Major Requirement - BA in Romance Languages - Subtotal: 60 Credits

May substitute three credits in each of primary language concentration, secondary language concentration, and Latin with the following WLC classes, up to a maximum of nine credits. 

Humanities Credits: 6

Fine Arts - Credits: 6

Latin - Credits: 6

Primary Language Concentration - Italian - Credits: 30

Secondary Language Concentration - French or Spanish - Credits: 12

General Electives - Credits: 20-24

Total Credits: 120
