BIOL 487 - Principles of Systematics Principles and applications of methods used to reconstruct history and biotic diversity among genes, species, and higher taxa. Considers several approaches to tree construction and significance of phylogenetic history within the context of evolution, biogeography, and conservation biology.
Credits 3 Prerequisites Grade of C or better in each of the following: BIOL 196 , BIOL 197 , CHEM 121 ,CHEM 122 ,ENG 101 , ENG 102 , and MATH 127 or higher. Notes Emphasis on molecular approaches to systematics. This course is crosslisted with BIOL 687. Credit at the 600-level requires additional work.
