Mariachi Minor

The Minor in Mariachi Education is designed to offer rudimentary instruction in mariachi history, performance skills, arranging, and instructional methods.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate rudimentary skills in mariachi arranging as well as demonstrate appropriate instructional methods for a school classroom
  • Perform at a skill level consistent with the expectations of the Mariachi Area and the School of Music
  • Identify prominent figures in mariachi history and name prominent works, characteristics, and other stylistic considerations
  • Work well with others in different ensemble settings

Notes


1. Per the University, at least 12 credits must be upper-division coursework.
2. Per the University, at least 50% of the credits used toward a minor must be taken at UNLV.
