Purpose and Focus

The Department of Management Information Systems offers courses and programs to provide students with the knowledge to design, develop, implement, and maintain computer information systems applications. The management information systems (IS) curricula include a strong foundation in business disciplines and a functional knowledge of what information technologies can offer to individuals and organizations.

Students are required to take courses that prepare them to use hardware, software, database, and procedures for problem solving and decision making. Students will learn why rather than how the technology works. They will be able to apply information technologies to improve productivity, innovation, customer service, and decision making. The programs will prepare students for industry or graduate school by providing them with technical knowledge and solid problem-solving and communication skills.
