The Certificate in Outdoor Recreation Leadership prepares students to lead and inspire others in a variety of outdoor and adventure-based settings. Designed for students who are passionate about the natural environment, physical activity, and experiential learning, this program blends foundational kinesiology coursework with hands-on outdoor recreation skills.
Through courses in outdoor sports, risk management, wilderness skills, and group leadership, students develop the knowledge and competencies needed to facilitate safe, meaningful experiences in the outdoors. Field-based learning is central to the program—students gain practical experience in activities, such as backpacking, climbing, paddle sports, and team-building initiatives while applying their knowledge and leadership.
Please see the UNLV School of Integrated Health Sciences Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences for information about department programs, faculty and facilities. Degree worksheets are available on the UNLV Degrees Directory.
