The Undergraduate Certificate in Japanese Language focuses on learning Japanese language skills and developing a strong foundation for the effective use of the language socially, academically, and professionally. This program should be of particular interest to students considering careers in education, government service, health care, hospitality, international business, journalism, media, or other professions where proficiency in a second language is important.

University Graduation Requirements
To obtain this certificate, you must be a degree seeking undergraduate student pursuing an approved UNLV bachelor’s degree. Please see Graduation Policies for complete information. Certificate in Japanese Language - Total Credits: 18
Required Courses
Take the following classes in sequential order, according to prerequisites. Notes
- An overall 2.0 GPA or higher must be earned in these courses to be awarded the Undergraduate Certificate in Japanese Language.
- Any student placed at JPN 114 will take JPN 114 , JPN 213 , JPN 214 , JPN 301 , JPN 302 , and one other JPN 300-level or JPN 400-level course. (Any student placed at JPN 213 or higher who completes 18 credits in Japanese can receive a Japanese Studies Minor .
