Dual Degree: Master of Business Administration & Master of Science - Quantitative Finance


Plan Description


The dual Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Quantitative Finance (MSQF) degree program offered by the Lee Business School is an exceptional opportunity for students looking to propel their business administration and finance careers to new heights. By pursuing this concurrent program, students gain admission to and complete the requirements for both degrees, equipping themselves with a powerful combination of business leadership skills and advancing analytical abilities in finance.

This unique program is specifically designed for individuals who aspire to develop a comprehensive understanding of business administration while honing their expertise in quantitative finance. By blending rigorous coursework with hands-on learning experiences, the program empowers students to emerge as visionary and creative leaders with strong competency in both areas. Upon graduation, students will not only earn two prestigious degrees - an MBA and an MSQF - but also possess a versatile skill set than is highly sought after in today’s competitive job market.

With a curriculum comprising 54 credits, students delve into a carefully crafted selection of MBA and MSQF courses, totaling 30 credits in MBA courses and 24 credits in MSQF courses. The program structure allows students to tailor their learning experience through various elective options. While the MBA offers four electives and Finance provides two, the integrated nature of the dual program enables students to leverage electives across both disciplines, providing unparalleled breadth and depth in their education. 

For MBA students, the dual degree in quantitative finance offers an opportunity to delve deeper into the intricacies of finance, enhancing their specialization beyond the core MBA content. Plan Admission Requirements


Application deadlines

Applications are available on the UNLV Graduate College website.

The admission requirements for the dual degree program are the same as each of the Master of Business Administration   and Master of Science - Quantitative Finance   programs. Applicants must be admitted to each of the MBA and MSQF programs. Candidates have to apply to the MBA/MSQF Dual Degree program and meet the application requirements of each of the programs respectively. 

All domestic and international applicants must review and follow the  Graduate College Admission and Registration Requirements. Students are accepted into a degree program as described in the Graduate Catalog. The faculty and corresponding sub-disciplines and sub-plans within the described programs are subject to change at any time.

Total Credits Required: 54  

Course Requirements


Total Credits Required for the Business Administration M.B.A.: 30


Electives – Credits: 9

Complete 9 credits of electives from any 700-level course offered by the Lee Business School.
Capstone Course – Credits: 3

Total Credits Required for the MSQF: 24


Degree Requirements


Completion of a minimum of 30 credits of MBA core courses and a minimum of 24 credits of MSQF courses.

A grade point average of at least 3.00 for course work required for the degree.

No grade lower than C is acceptable. Students with unsatisfactory progress toward the degree requirements are subject to dismissal. A student with a grade of C or lower in any of the required courses for the degree will be put on probation for one semester. Conditions and deadlines for the removal of probation will be specified. Failure to meet the condition will result in a departure from the program. A student with two grades of C or lower will be dropped from the program.

Plan Graduation Requirements


Successful completion of the capstone course.

Students cannot graduate from one portion of the dual degree until the requirements for both are met. Students must apply to graduate from both programs for the same semester.

Students may apply for graduation up to two semesters prior to completing their degree requirements. All required forms must be submitted to the graduate college via the Grad Rebel Gateway.
