Dance Production/Management Minor

The minor in Dance Production and Management provides a student with the opportunity to develop design and management skills for dance and stage productions. Students will be able to choose courses that interest them in lighting design, costume construction, set design, digital media design, stage management and the business of dance. This minor is open to dance majors and non-dance majors. No dance background is required for this minor.

Learning Objectives
- Dance-production minors will be able to apply dance production and management standards in realized productions and understand the application and use of all physical production elements (lights, scenery, costumes, digital media, music, stage management) for performance and choreographic needs.
Objectives — After completing the dance production minor program the students will be able to:
- Do basic technical set up for production.
- Have knowledge on how to travel and tour a dance production.
- Dance-production minors will be able to organize and apply principles of research and critical thinking and aesthetics through design and choreographic environments.
Objectives - After completing the dance production minor program students will be able to:
- Have the ability to define period styles in design.
- Present concepts and ideas in the framework of historical and current trends.
- Map out and develop a cohesive production concept and “arc” for design choices.
- Dance-production minors will have a thorough understanding of the partnership between choreographer and designer and be able to create a collaborative working environment Objectives – After completing the dance production minor program the students will be able to:
- Execute collaborations with actual choreographers to develop presented work.
- Share thoughts and ideas in a nurturing manner to the betterment of the work.

Dance Production/Management Minor - Total Credits: 21
Minimum 2.0 GPA
Minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA
Required Courses - Credits: 6
Elective Courses - Credits: 15
Complete 15 credits from the following dance production/management electives:
Notes
- Two semesters of DAN 199 Seminar in Dance (0 cr) recommended.
- Credit by Exam (CBE) may be possible for some production/management classes which will be decided by a Dance Department Advisor.
