Master of Education - Intercollegiate and Professional Sport Management


Plan Description


The Master’s of Education in Intercollegiate and Professional Sport Management is a new program proposed to provide specialized education in the leadership, management and governance of sport organizations for individuals interested in amateur and professional sport organizations, teams, and events.

The program focuses on the diversity of sport opportunities in intercollegiate athletics, youth, community, endurance, and professional sport with specific focus on areas such as innovation, sport analytics, and policy analysis.

Plan Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet all Graduate College requirements as outlined in the Admissions section of the Graduate Catalog, as well as complete the online application and upload all of the following in the Grad Rebel Gateway:

  1. Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited university
  2. Two letters of professional recommendation
  3. Optional: Submission of an official copy of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the last 5 years will be considered but is not mandatory.
  4. Resume (a minimum of two years of work experience, or equivalent, is preferred but not required)
  5. Statement of Interest in the program and field
  6. Indication of interest in a graduate assistantship, when applicable

Students are accepted into a degree program as described in the Graduate Catalog. The faculty and corresponding sub-disciplines and sub-plans within the described programs are subject to change at any time.

Total Credits Required: 34

Plan Degree Requirements


  1. The student must complete a minimum of 34 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.00.
  2. All courses in the program must be at the 600-level or above.
  3. The Master of Education (M.Ed.) – Intercollegiate and Professional Sport Management is a non-thesis program, which requires the successful completion of a capstone project and internship taken during the final semester.

Plan Graduation Requirements


The student must successfully complete the capstone course and internship course.

Students may apply for graduation up to two semesters prior to completing their degree requirements. All required forms must be submitted to the graduate college via the Grad Rebel Gateway.
