ANTH 657 - Archaeology of Complex Societies and Archaic States
Credits 3
Focus on the archaeology of complex societies and archaic states. We probe the origins and development of the archaic states in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Indus Valley, Central Asia, China, and Mesoamerica. We “critically” review archaeologists’ “interpretations” regarding major environmental, social, political, religious, and economic factors as prime movers. Crosslisted with ANTH 457.
