SOC 651 - Russian Society in Transition
Credits 3
Sociological survey of Russian society in transition. Reviews major Soviet institutions and examines current attempts to transform Russian society. Special attention to the origins of glasnost and prestroika and the difficulties that the former Soviet Union faces in reforming its communist system and building democracy and a market economy. Crosslisted with SOC 451. Credit at the 600-level requires additional work.
