HIST 678B - Islamic and Middle Eastern History since 1750

An examination of the Middle East from the 18th century to recent times. The predominant focus will be on how the indigenous leadership and peoples of the region grappled with the challenges posed by the advent of the modern world. Crosslisted with HIST 478B, AIS 478B. Credit at the 600-level requires additional work.
