Investigation of the radical impact of industrial modernity upon the European metropolis from the eighteenth century onwards. Focuses on cultural, social, technological, and architectural developments in the major European cities, such as London, Paris, Vienna, and Berlin. Crosslisted with HIST 434A. Credit at the 600-level requires additional work.
