HIST 615A - United States: Gilded Age, 1877-1900

Analysis and interpretation of the impact of industrialization, immigration and urbanization upon the American experiment in republicanism. Examines how diverse Americans, including ex-slaves, farmers, feminists, “new” immigrants, Plains Indians, radicals, soldiers, statesmen, industrialists and laborers responded to these unsettling conditions and helped to usher in the modern age. Crosslisted with HIST 415A. Credit at the 600-level requires additional work.
