PHIL 430 - Philosophy of Science



Study of the nature of scientific inquiry and method. Topics discussed may include the demarcation problem, hypothesis formation, empirical testability, confirmation, falsification, theory construction, explanation, and scientific laws. Approaches examined may include empiricism, historicism, constructivism, and scientific realism.

Credits: 3
Prerequisites: One previous philosophy course and Junior or Senior standing.
Notes: Satisfies Humanities Requirement. This course is crosslisted with PHIL 630. Credit at the 600-level requires additional work.
