DEN 7234 - Nitrous Oxide Sedation Credits 1
The didactic portion of the course covers the history of sedation, the physical properties and pharmacokinetics of nitrous oxide, relevant respiratory anatomy and physiology, indications and contraindications, patient medical assessment, administration and record keeping, complications and management of medical emergencies, and finally the ethical and legal implication of inhalation sedation. The clinical aspect of the course requires a demonstration of the knowledge and skill to successfully administer nitrous oxide to a patient while asked questions regarding potential complications that may arise.
