A Message from UNLV’S Executive Vice President and Provost

Welcome to the Graduate College at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas!   Whether you are a continuing [NR1] student or just exploring our offerings, you will find a university on the move that is constantly building graduate programs for today’s world.  Because we serve a large, dynamic (and unique) metropolitan area, we offer a wide range of professional and master’s degrees for the professional looking to improve their career prospects. We are also a significant research university, with a range of Ph.D. programs in research-intensive areas.  I am sure that you’ll find our accomplished faculty poised to help you achieve your goals..

As part of its overall goal to be the very best university that it can be, UNLV is currently pursuing Carnegie Research / Very High status, as measured by the Carnegie Foundation.  This effort will materially improve our graduate programs and the scope, complexity, and prominence of research at UNLV.   The result of this pursuit of a true Top Tier status will be a more engaged university that better serves our students, our community, and our state.  Over the next few years, we expect the energy on the campus to grow in proportion to our investments in faculty positions, facilities, and student support.  We are delighted that you’re considering becoming a part of the UNLV family in this exciting time.  We’re sure that you’ll notice the difference that this effort will make on our campus.

Whether you’re continuing your studies at UNLV or are new to our campus we welcome you, and we want your experience with us to be productive, challenging, and enjoyable.  Best of luck with your academic pursuits!

Nancy B. Rapoport

Acting Executive Vice President and Provost
